MHP and Siemens have defined a standardized digital twin to enable the data of various assets from the shop floor to be compared and scaled. The digital twin offers a simple method of simulating and scaling complex applications, such as comparing environmental data between different production sites. The team behind the concept is now developing an initial use case.
The project was originally kicked off at the “MHP Future Factory Hack – Powered by Siemens” hackathon event at Expo 2020 in Dubai: It was here that MHP and Siemens made the digital twin available for the first time. The participants in the hackathon were tasked with developing a corresponding IIoT app in Siemens MindSphere and pinpointing an initial application for the digital twin in a production context.
