MHP and TransnetBW pool competences in "IE2S" cooperation

Energy and mobility turnaround in focus

Ludwigsburg/Stuttgart – Under the brand name "Intelligent Energy System Services (IE2S)", MHP and the Baden-Württemberg transmission system operator TransnetBW are pooling their core and specialist competences and developing targeted consulting solutions for the energy and mobility sectors. From 1 January 2019, IE2S will support its customers in considering and dealing with the challenges involving intelligent networks, intelligent markets and intelligent products, as well as their cross-sector and digital networking in the "smart system". The consulting offer is aimed at customers whose business models are subject to major changes on account of the energy and mobility turnaround. Also local authorities and public-sector customers are increasingly confronted with such questions. For example, it may involve intelligent load management at industrial and commercial locations, or the use of accumulators in electric cars for network stabilization – and thus the development of new products for the electricity market in sectors that are today not yet participating. While TransnetBW is contributing its knowledge of energy management and processes, as well as the system view, to the cooperation, MHP, as a digitalization and mobility expert, is bringing the experience and consulting competence of almost three thousand employees. "For over 20 years we have been advising companies from the mobility sector on the digitalization of their business processes and models. Also regarding the development towards electric mobility, ICT technologies play a decisive role. For only with them can the many different players - from the users and manufacturers to the electricity providers and municipalities - come together. Together with TransnetBW, we provide them all with an integrated consulting offer," says Dr. Markus Kirchler, Partner and Member of the Board of Management at MHP. With this cooperation, TransnetBW is taking an initial step towards strengthening the service business outside of the regulated area. "Energy management and the automotive industry are moving closer together. There are many new topics that equally affect both sectors. It is therefore a logical consequence that they should intensify their cooperation. We are delighted to have found in MHP a strong partner from the region who wants to join forces with us," stresses Dr. Rainer Pflaum, Managing Director of TransnetBW. "With IE2S, we want to take a new path and contribute our competence in system responsibility and supply security in the context of increasingly digital, decentralized business models. Thus, together with MHP, we want to prepare the industries that converge to form our main business for the joint themes of the future," says Dr. Dominique Gross, responsible Project Manager at TransnetBW. The operational service implementation and sale is carried out via MHP. Marcus Willand, Associated Partner at MHP for Mobility: "We are very well networked with numerous mobility companies, and have also been working closely for many years with EVUs and municipalities. We therefore know what challenges are faced by those responsible. Here, we can take a targeted approach with our joint consulting offer IE2S."
