The cooperation between Porsche and the BBA (Ludwigsburg Basketball Academy), which includes an affiliation of 11 partner clubs and 55 partner schools, has initially been set up for a period of 3 years. Around 2,500 children from the region will be able to play basketball regularly and under professional training conditions thanks to the Porsche BBA.
For Lutz Meschke, CFO at Porsche AG, "The BBA is a textbook example of an effective cooperation between sport and education. The BBA is thus showing, in an impressive manner, all that is possible when a region bundles its strengths".
Porsche is also providing 3 vehicles as part of the new cooperation in addition to financial sponsoring. There will also, for example, be an annual event for children as part of a home game of the MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg in the Beko Basketball Bundesliga.
"We are delighted that such a globally successful company as Porsche is putting its weight behind the future of basketball in the region", says Alexander Reil, Chairman of the MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg. For Mario Probst, Manager of the Porsche BBA, the partnership with the sports car manufacturer "is another milestone in the history of the still relatively new Ludwigsburg Basketball Academy. Everybody involved is highly motivated, together with Porsche, to help make basketball even more popular in the region".
By supporting the Ludwigsburg Basketball Academy, Porsche AG is once again underlining that it is not only committed to funding top-ranking sportspeople and events. "One objective of the BBA is, of course, to find the next generation of MHP RIESEN players from among their own up-and-coming players" says Porsche CFO Lutz Meschke, "but this is not the be-all and end-all. It is, more generally, also about the shared experience and a love for the sport of basketball." The fact that the emphasis is on the school education was a particularly important aspect for Porsche AG.
