Paper invoices are a thing of the past – at least for business with public authorities. For as of 27 November 2020, in accordance with EU Directive 2014/55, federal, state and local authorities will only accept electronic invoices. And also an increasing number of companies prefer electronic transactions. Automobile manufacturers, for example, more and more frequently require e-invoices from their suppliers. The advantages of this electronic exchange are obvious: Invoicing is much faster and efficient. Administrative work is drastically reduced, as manual dispatch and archiving are eliminated. Furthermore, it contributes to ensuring compliance – which is important in order to maintain smooth business operations.
In order to be able to create electronic invoices and send them to the recipients, an IT solution is required that supports the automated processes in electronic invoicing. Here, firstly, invoices must be created in the right format – in Germany this means ZUGFeRD or X-Rechnungen – and, secondly, they must be sent via the appropriate channel. It is therefore advisable from the start to use a solution that supports the various formats and country-specific regulations. This is especially relevant for companies that process their business in the EU or also in other countries. By means of the SAP Cloud Platform Integration (SAP CPI) solution and our complementary cloud-based application "ZUGFeRD Content" from MHP, e-invoices can be generated in the ZUGFeRD format and sent to the respective authorities. And this is possible without substantial initial investment. Beside the monthly costs for SAP CPI, only a one-off investment for our content is required.
