Ludwigsburg – The issue of workforce shortages is something that poses a variety of challenges, particularly for the economy. Short-term staff shortages, unforeseen staff changes or volatile production programs are a constant challenge for companies. The lack of inter-departmental transparency over available personnel and current staff shortages makes planning even more difficult. In order to reduce these process-related obstacles and the potential costs they could cause, the management and IT consultancy MHP has expanded its ICS portfolio (Industrial Cloud Solutions) to include the shift_it software solution.
As Fabian Seidel, Product Manager at MHP, explains: "With shift_it, MHP is presenting innovative software that combines real-time employee scheduling, improved personnel transparency, flexible planning tools and significant cost savings, so that production processes can optimized sustainably."
Cuts shift planning times by up to 20 minutes
By displaying the status of all shift workers in real time, the shift_it software-as-a-service solution provides managers with a comprehensive overview of staff scheduling processes, registered using the time recording system's time stamp data. The qualifications of each employee can also be mapped.
In addition, shift_it simplifies the internal staff transfer process by allowing immediate action to be taken in the event of last-minute schedule changes. This can save up to 20 minutes in the planning of different tasks and teams and requires access to all relevant data - not only for those responsible for their own shift, but also for those in other areas, so that they can also incorporate the relevant employees into their planning.
Furthermore, shift_it is not only suitable for short-term staff scheduling before the start of a shift. It also enables the following days and weeks to be planned efficiently. The system provides shift managers with a structured overview of all employees' sick days and holidays, meaning that potential staff shortages can be avoided at an early stage. In addition, many companies now have a modern rotation model in place, allowing employees to regularly change stations and thus develop a broad skill set. This in turn has a positive effect on internal stuff transfer possibilities.
Additional features in the pipeline
To further improve the solution’s benefits and flexibility, mobile employee shift planning is also envisaged. In future, the aim is that all employees will be able to view the planning data directly via an app and even adjust their shift planning independently if necessary. In addition, shift_it is to be connected to the company's ERP and HR system via numerous interfaces to allow more complex data to be viewed and managed, too.
