Ludwigsburg – MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg have once again enjoyed an excellent season in the Beko Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) and also in the EuroCup. In a total of 56 national and international competitive games the team under trainer John Patrick emerged as winners a whopping 35 times. MHP RIESEN narrowly missed out on making it to the final sixteen of the EuroCup and in the cup the team lost to Brose Baskets Bamberg in the quarter finals. After the main round in the BBL the team was in 5th place – the best result since the 2006/2007 season. For the third year in a row MHP RIESEN reached the playoffs for the championship. Here the team played five intensive matches against FC Bayern München, but ultimately lost with two home wins and three defeats in Munich. With all these successes MHP RIESEN have impressively established themselves among the top clubs of the league and are currently one of the best basketball teams in Germany.
RIESEN fans are also top of the league. 101,784 spectators attended the home games in the MHPArena – a spectator record was set for the third time in a row. The attendance at BBL games was 90.8 percent. The presence of the team in the media has also increased significantly. This success story also includes the extension of MHP's commitment as a name sponsor and main sponsor of the team – RIESEN will also run out as MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg in the 2016/2017, 2017/2018, and 2018/2019 seasons.
