Stuttgart, 08.01.2015 – In 2014, Porsche AG delivered a total of 189,850 new cars to customers around the world – our parent company thus recorded an increase of 17 per cent over the previous year. In December 2014, with 20,644 cars delivered, Porsche for the first time exceeded the 20,000 mark (+39 % compared with the same month the previous year). In particular the new generation of the Cayenne met with strong demand in China in the reporting month: over 6,400 deliveries mean almost a doubling of the figures over December 2013.
“For the fourth record year in succession, there are concrete reasons: fascinating products and highly motivated employees,” said Bernhard Maier, member of the Board of Management, Sales and Marketing at Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG. “Furthermore, the successful market introduction of the Macan gave an additional boost to our brand in 2014. Worldwide, three-quarters of the Macan customers opted for a Porsche car for the first time.”
In 2014 Porsche sold more cars in all regions and markets, the United States being the biggest market with over 47,000 cars delivered. The Chinese market, recording an increase of over 25 per cent to precisely 46,931 deliveries, showed the greatest growth. In Porsche’s home market Germany, almost 24,000 customers decided on a model made by Porsche, more than ever before.
In particular the new sporty compact SUV Porsche Macan was very popular around the world in 2014, and was sold 45,000 times in the year of introduction of the fifth model series. With the Panamera, Porsche delivered 13 per cent more sports saloons than in the previous year. With over 30,000 911s sold, the iconic sports car also surpassed the figure for the previous year.
